After months of collaborative effort, Ethiopia’s Amhara Region officially endorsed the “Woreda Resource Book for Community-Led Total Behavior Change in Hygiene and Sanitation,” which signifies a high-level commitment to behavior change—even more ambitious than universal sanitation coverage. In Madagascar, HIP’s agreements with both the Malagasy Red Cross and the EU–funded ACORDS Project will extend WASH/HIP training far beyond current areas through the field agent networks of these two organizations. And in Peru, HIP helped develop a set of materials in collaboration with the Healthy Municipalities and Communities projects (managed by Management Sciences for Health) to encourage families to treat their water before consuming it and to wash their hands and dispose properly of feces.
